Responsibilities:

*   Write and edit a wide variety of materials across departments, often
working closely with the Director and Graphic Designer
*   Types of projects include, but are not limited to, news releases,
brochures, newsletters, annual report, email marketing, and website copy
*   Create and maintain Museum’s online presence, including all forms of
social media, website content and blog
*   Coordinate with Marketing staff to produce communication that reflects
the Museum brand
*   Coordinate with Education staff to produce and update blog content
*   Draft press releases for specific target audiences
*   Develop story ideas and draft ideas for approval of the Director –
Media Relations
*   Perform pitch calls to the media to follow up press release
distribution
*   Schedule writer/media visits to the Museum
*   Escort writers/media while on-site and provide follow up information as
needed
*   Respond to media requests for information
*   Update and maintain an inventory of Museum press/media kits
*   Update and maintain media databases
*   Compile press information for quarterly summary of press coverage for
review by senior management and the board of directors
*   Monitor inventory of Publicity/Public Relations supplies and replenish
as required
*   Research, implement and develop programs for Media Relations
*   Implement improved processes to generate best possible workflow
*   Cultivate relationships and partnerships with local organizations
*   Consult with Director – Media Relations on directing and coordinating
work assignments
*   Develop reporting for measurement and evaluate the effectiveness of
programs
*   Order, track and organize supplies to complete programs
*   Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

*   Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or marketing
*   Minimum of one year of experience in public relations, communications
and/or content management
*   Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
*   Ability to work independently, or as part of a dynamic team
*   Ability to produce under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
*   Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access
and PowerPoint
*   Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and social media applications a
plus
