Works collaboratively with managers and supervisors to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive training curriculum that integrates site and divisional training programs

Assures consistently high levels of presentation skills and knowledge of 18th-century Williamsburg throughout the division as well as Products, Hospitality, and other areas of the Foundation

Provides instruction, mentoring, coaching, and counseling to interpreters and to other employees developing training programs

Teaches classes related to specific interpretive content and techniques

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Proven ability to create training materials by synthesizing large amounts of material

Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Abilities to (1) teach history and presentation skills using a variety of techniques, (2) organize time and teaching materials effectively, and (3) represent Colonial Williamsburg Foundation before national and international organizations

Demonstrated success as a mentor or coach, or theatrical director

Familiarity with various interpretive techniques, especially narrative (storytelling)

Knowledge of early American history

All of the above generally gained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in American history, English history or a closely related field, three years theatrical directing and acting experience and five years interpretive/living history experience

Highly desirable:  Two years supervisory or educational administration experience; detailed knowledge of Virginia history; Experience as an evaluator (giving feedback)
