CLASSIFICATION/GRADE/SALARY RANGE

Temporary Position ending June 30, 2013 (renewable)

Part-time, non-exempt

24 hours a week, $15 per hour

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Supports the exhibitions department and exhibition teams as assigned (curatorial, interpretation, publications, design, exhibitions) in developing and implementing exhibitions at the DIA.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts collection research, formats loan letters, and assists with lender follow-up
  • Researches, obtains images and rights and reproduction for catalogue and interpretation
  • Tracks information for interpretive planning, exhibition design, and installation
  • Assists with archiving scholarship and image database
  • Proficient with FileMaker Pro and input information related to loans, collectors, interpretation
  • Helps  maintain working relationships and communications with external partners and customers
  • Coordinates community consultations / record and document sessions
  • Tracks and assists with all aspects of catalogue including: facilitate donor, scholar, and lender input, fact checking, assistance with artist bios, captions, credits and indexing
  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external partners, especially for interpretive purposes
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History with additional graduate work
  • Minimum of one year experience in the field of art
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the activities and operation of a large art museum
  • Tact in dealing with the public and staff
  • Knowledge of MS Office, especially FileMaker Pro
