Description:
DeCordova is seeking an innovative, energetic museum educator for a 35-hour/week, temporary position to be part of the dynamic Learning & Engagement Department from March 1 through August 30. The position will be responsible for supporting the museum’s varied educational programs and events related to the Sculpture Park, the Museum, the Square, and Lincoln Nursery School (deCordova’s on-site educational partner). Working with the Learning & Engagement staff, the L&E Assistant collaborates on developing, administering, preparing for, facilitating, and/or documenting family programs, interpretive materials, summer and vacation programs, public programs, educational exhibitions, and Lincoln Nursery School activities. Assistance with additional L&E initiatives and administration, working closely with curatorial and visitor services staff, and a creative and encouraging approach are also part of this position that fosters the engagement of audiences of all ages and levels of art experience when visiting deCordova. A focus on creating and running family programs, such as ARTfull Play, ARTfull Explorations, and Play in the Park will be complemented by work with various spring and summer projects and programs, such as spring vacation week workshops, public programs, the hive summer youth program, and interpretive materials and spaces related to the summer exhibitions. The L&E Assistant will work an average of 35 hours per week, including Sundays to run and support family and public programs.

 

Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Education, Museum Education, or Studio Art; museum education experience or equivalent; effective communication skills; experience and professional interest in working with children, youth, and families; detail- and collaboration-oriented; strong organizational abilities
