The Exhibitions Registrar is responsible for the scheduling and installation of artifacts selected for exhibit and managing the packing of artifacts and transportation of artifacts between all buildings operated by the Missouri History Museum. The Exhibitions Registrar will track the movement of collections within all buildings, develop exhibition checklists, and supervise installation and deinstallation of artifacts. The person in this position will be responsible for managing exhibits databases and working with the Collections Management System Administrator to see that all applicable data is complete and updated. In addition, the Exhibitions Registrar will prepare condition reports and maintain loan and rotation records. This person is responsible for corresponding with borrowers/lenders regarding packing and shipping requirements. The Exhibitions Registrar ensures that professional packing, shipping, handling, and storage methods are followed according to best practices. The Exhibitions Registrar should be familiar with all aspects of museum collections responsibility, according to national professional standards and best practices.

The Exhibitions Registrar adheres to MHM policies and procedures and in furthering institutional initiatives as needed.

Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the professional standards for the shipping, valuation and insurance, handling, housing, exhibiting, and documentation of historical objects. Experience in loan negotiation for traveling exhibitions is desirable. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required, as is the ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision in a collaborative environment. Applicants should be able to assist in planning production schedules and must demonstrate a proven record in adhering to project schedules and budgets.

Requirements: MA degree in history, museum studies, art, or related field. This is a key position requiring a Minimum of 3 Years of Experience in museum registration with progressive responsibilities and proven experience working with art or historic artifacts.
