POSITION: MUSEUM INSTRUCTOR/ CURATORIAL ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: EASCFA

REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate degree in art history, M.A. preferred, curatorial studies experience helpful.  Must possess excellent organizational, administrative, writing, research and computer skills; Detail-oriented person with good communication and multi-tasking abilities; Must be flexible and work well with a team;  Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, TMS and other database, administrative and management programs important.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Curatorial Assistant will work directly with the Curator, the Assistant Curator and the Programs Coordinator to oversee and facilitate administrative aspects of the EASCFA, including assisting with exhibitions logistics, website maintenance, and administrative duties pertaining to collections management, staff support and intern supervision, and the Council for Feminist Art (CFA).
With the Curator and Assistant Curator, s/he will assist in preparation for upcoming and future exhibitions, organizing and processing information on artists and artworks; process and facilitate paperwork for outgoing and incoming loans, both for exhibitions and regarding  the EASCFA Collection and its maintenance; liaise between relevant members of the Museum staff and selected artists, lenders and employees at outside organizations and between contributors and the digital lab for publications; create checklist documents and prepare selected Power-Point presentations for lectures and meetings in and out-of-house.  S/he will also assist with preparation for travel, meetings, lectures, studio visits, correspondence,  etc.
With the Curator and Programs Manager, the Curatorial Assistant will assist in the administration and maintenance of the Center’s web components including updates of The Dinner Party database, the Feminist Art Base,  the EASCFA Facebook page and a project in development.  S/he will assist in facilitating information for various publication sources, including What’s Happening and email blasts about CFA and public events and programs.   S/he will solicit applications for, facilitate interviews with,  and supervise all department interns, ensuring that there is support, as requested by the Programs Manager, for the Center’s various events.
Administrative tasks imperative to the Curatorial Assistant’s job include, but are not limited to: inter-museum logistics for exhibitions, collections management and meeting; implementing and administering the department’s contact database; handling e-mail and phone correspondence; scheduling appointments; managing general EASCFA mail, including  correspondence for the curator and general email and other inquires; and organizing/tracking electronic and hardcopy files.  And other tasks as assigned.

STARTING DATE:   IMMEDIATELY

WORK SCHEDULE: Regular office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Frequent
evening and weekend hours, as necessary.

SALARY: $32,198 annual
