The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts seeks a highly motivated and detailed individual to provide administrative and project management support for a variety of exhibition projects. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Art and Education, this position works closely and collaboratively with the exhibition curator and project team to ensure exhibitions are effectively coordinated from initiation through to final completion. The coordinator will manage checklists, loan request lists, loan letter schedules and correspondence, coordinate production timetables, project meetings, and information, monitor and track exhibition expenses and serve as a central point of contact for all internal inquiries from museum departments and external inquiries from lending institutions, artists, and venues. In addition, this position will work with the curatorial department on exhibition-related tasks, including but not limited to research, writing and presentations.

Qualifications: The selected candidate will have an Advanced degree in Art History or Museum studies and experience in curatorial, registration and/or exhibition project work in a museum context. He/she will have project management experience including monitoring budgets, tracking timelines, problem solving and coordinating the work of a team. Additionally, the selected candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational, oral, written and interpersonal skills. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office and PowerPoint are also required. The selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.

This is a part-time salaried position that works 32 hours/week and includes excellent benefits. Faculty rank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
