*Exhibit Designer*

Primary job function is to create the design, layout and graphics for
temporary, permanent and hands-on exhibitions.****

** **

*Duties and Responsibilities* include but are not limited to:****

**·         **Designing effective ways to communicate interpretive
objectives, themes, storylines, and subjects using a wide variety of
artifacts and other authentic historical materials, graphic reproductions
from diverse sources, and original art****

**·         **Researching and developing spatial arrangements, visual
presentations and fabrication methods keeping in mind deadlines, budget,
preparation time, existing exhibition furniture, physical space,
anticipated audiences, duration of exhibits, and safety of objects****

**·         **Preparing exhibit design proposals from conceptual layout and
treatments to finished working drawings, floor plans, etc.****

**·         **Designing, producing and installing graphic elements and
printed and digital materials****

**·         **Performing daily maintenance in exhibition areas****

**·         **Assisting with production of multi-media presentations****

*Qualifications:*

**·         **Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work
collaboratively with curatorial and education staff and other team members**
**

**·         **Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task**
**

**·         **Must be able to perform multiple and highly complex technical
tasks****

**·         **Must be proficient in the use of Macintosh computers and
programs such as Photoshop, Illustrators, InDesign and other applicable CAD
software****

**·         **Must be able to meet the job¹s usual and customary physical
demands of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing,
stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling****

*Education: *Requires a Bachelor¹s degree in graphic design, exhibit
design, fine arts or closely related design field or an Associate¹s degree
in these areas plus comparable experience and training.  Job related
experience is preferred.****

** **

*Salary Range:* $30,000 – $35,000. Non-exempt 240-day position. Museum
hours are 8 a.m. ­ 5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. but work schedule will vary and include
some evenings and weekends. Reports to the Curator of Collections and
Exhibitions.****
