DESCRIPTION:

The Adirondack Museum Library seeks an enthusiastic and well-qualified project manager to coordinate the activities of recently awarded digitization and automation grants. The goal of the digitization project is to digitize the library’s collection of roughly 1000 architectural drawings and renderings, add them to existing Past Perfect records or, when necessary create new catalog records. The automation project will convert 2300 manual catalog records into Past Perfect and MARC format. These projects will bring the museum library’s collection to a wider audience and assist researchers who seek to study the history and art of the Adirondack Park.

Duties include:
� Operating a wide format scanner.
� Coordinating the retrieval, preparation, and return of material from the collection.
� Developing and managing digital files and metadata, and loading images on to Past Perfect records.
� Create finding aid and Electronic Archival Description for Coulter Collection.
� Indentifying records for conversion to machine readable format.
� Creation of Past Perfect records from card catalog records.
� Batch conversion of Past Perfect records to MARC format

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications
Master’s Degree (or pending degree) in Library and Information Science; prior working on digitization and/or automation projects; knowledge of best standards for digital capture and description, knowledge of Past Perfect and MARC cataloging rules, excellent written and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills; proven record of successful project management and working in a team environment. Desired: prior experience in a museum library and an interest in history and architecture.
