The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is currently recruiting a Curator to work in Research and Public Programs at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. The work location is downtown Madison, a short distance from the Capitol Square, State Street and Monona Terrace.

Job Duties:

This position provides subject matter expertise relevant to military material culture and Wisconsin military history. This position participates in developing targeted collections acquisition strategies that support the mission-based programs of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. This position also researches, identifies and secures new acquisitions for the Wisconsin Veterans Museum from donors and other sources, and makes recommendations regarding reference material acquisitions.

Activities also include serving as a key member of the Exhibits Committee, providing research and material knowledge expertise in the development of exhibit themes and concepts. This individual provides historical content for resources such as exhibit technology, social media posts and other initiatives to share expertise, engage the public and increase accessibility to the collection.

This position also develops and schedules adult public programs based on military history topics including lectures, workshops and special events. Tasks also include working closely with the Curator of Education in developing and implementing standardized evaluation for all public programs and events.
