Background:
The Rodel Foundation of Delaware was created in 1999 with a singular mission to ensure all
Delaware students have access to world-class schools. Delaware is widely and justifiably considered
a national leader for education policy initiatives. Our small size and aligned state and local
leadership has allowed it to be on the cutting edge of innovative reform, and was critical to its being
awarded the first Race to the Top grant of $119 million dollars, followed quickly by another $50
million dollar investment in Early Childhood Education.
The Rodel Foundation of Delaware has been instrumental in this success. Working with educators,
policymakers, community leaders, and parents, we believe Delaware can create a system of public
schools by 2020 that is among the best in the world. Our talented and passionate team provides
policy analysis, strategic support, and catalytic investments in pursuit of this goal.
Summary:
As a Research Associate, you will work with the policy and communications team to accomplish our
mission by supporting state and local leadership and many partner organizations. You will have the
opportunity to be involved vast projects covering topics including teacher and leader quality,
education innovation, personalized learning, college and career readiness, and early childhood
education.
This position is an ideal role for entry level educators and researchers interested in furthering their
knowledge of education policy. Individuals who are eager and passionate about education will find

To perform this job effectively, a Bachelor’s Degree and a strong willingness to learn about state and
national education systems, policies, and practices are required. Familiarity with Delaware and/or
experience with teaching is preferred, but not required.
Sample responsibilities include:
 Providing policy, research, evaluation, and program management support for Rodel
Foundation programs, partners’ initiatives, and statewide entities
 Conducting research on education in Delaware, the US, and internationally for
communications, policy, and strategy development purposes
 Creating and maintaining a database of all Delaware public schools and updating with
relevant information
 Communicating research in memos, policy briefs, and through the Rodel blog and website
The ideal candidate will excel in:
 Research and analysis
 Written and verbal communication/presentation skills
 Program and project management experience
 The ability to work independently and with others
 Strategic thinking
 The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the full suite of Microsoft
Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and have experience in data analysis.
