The Position:
The Department of Public Education and Visitor Services (PEVS), a secular department of the Cathedral, seeks a full-time Education Coordinator to help implement is mission: to utilize both physical and programmatic resources to welcome and develop relationships with diverse audiences, sparking interactive learning to strengthen and inspire discourse and community within the City, the Nation, and the World.  This is a full=time, exempt position offered with a full benefits package. Some extra hours may be necessary.

Responsibilities:

*   Collaborate with PEVS to provide tour and workshop programs for school, youth, family, adult, and senior groups, including individuals with special needs
*   Articulate and convey the educational mission of PEVS to teachers and school personnel
*   Schedule visiting school and adult groups; take reservations for public programs
*   Monitor, document, and evaluate all on-site school, youth, and adult programs
*   Process and record group payments
*   Coordinate with part-time Educators and Volunteers to ensure smooth and efficient operations
*   Teach and develop secular curricula in the Cathedral
*   Participate in appropriate conferences, workshops, and professional organizations such as AAM, MANY, NYCMER, and NYC & Co.
*   Develop and support PEVS outreach and marketing
*   Support other departmental and Cathedral operations as required
*   Manage oneself in accordance with the Cathedral’s standards of conduct and ethics

Qualifications:
Required:

*   Bachelor’s degree in education, museum education, museum studies, or a related field
*   A minimum of two years experience in engaging child and adult audiences in a museum or cultural institution
*   Strong listening, oral, writing, and communication skills
*   Demonstrated attention to detail and time management
*   Excellent interpersonal and team-buliding skills
*   Knowledge of child development, educational theories, VTS, and other teaching practices related to personal and group learning
*   A love of learning and a commitment to nurture an educated society
*   A sense of humor, humility, and collegiality

Desired but not necessary:

*   Knowledge of design software strongly encouraged
*   Tuesday through Saturday schedule
*   Formal teaching experience with art materials and hands-on activities
*   Experience with access programming for special needs audiences
*   Fluency in Spanish; all foreign language abilities desirable
