The Springfield Art Museum invites applications for the position of Museum
Educator.  Located in Missouri’s third largest city, the Springfield Art
Museum serves as a cultural hub to the region.  The Springfield MSA has a
population of over 300,000 and features numerous amenities found in a larger
city but with a small-town feel.  Springfield boasts a vibrant downtown,
award winning parks, numerous restaurants and entertainment options, and an
active and supportive arts community.  The Springfield Art Museum includes
an education wing that features 3 large classroom spaces and a gallery
dedicated to hands-on interpretation.  The Museum also boasts an active
school tour program in which all 5th graders from area schools attend tours
of the Museum.  The Springfield Art Museum houses an impressive collection
of over 9,000 objects including American, European, and Asian art as well as
significant holdings of works on paper and decorative arts.

The Springfield Art Museum seeks a dynamic and innovative educator focused
on community engagement and ready to make a difference.  Other key duties
include:

– Managing an active docent program and leading the initiation of volunteer
and internship programs

– Managing art classes for adults and children

– Managing educational events for a variety of audiences including children,
families, and adults

– Oversees the Museum’s educational outreach efforts and serving as a
liaison between community groups and the Museum

– Managing the Museum’s classroom spaces
