The Dayton Art Institute announces a new fellowship offered through the
generosity of an anonymous donor.****

Two fellows will be selected to focus on researching and developing content
on select objects in the museum¹s collection to add to the existing*What is
a Masterpiece? An Interactive Tour of World Art *program. Fellows will
identify content sources in a variety of media, secure rights for existing
content and develop and select new content. Fellows will work with
community resources and identify and interview artists and scholars to
contribute to the understanding and interpretation of each object.****

This is the second phase of the interactive museum interpretation project.
The first phase, funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library
Services, *What is A Masterpiece? *is one of the first art museum programs
of its kind to use a QR code to access a mobile website created
specifically for objects in the museum¹s collection, allowing access to a
menu of diverse content offerings.****

The individuals will work directly with the Curator of Collections and
Exhibitions in tandem with the Director of Education, who serve as
supervisors and mentors throughout the term of the fellowship.****

The work for this position is 8 weeks at 40 hours per week Monday through
Friday beginning June 10 through August 2, 2013.  Applicants must have
completed a bachelor¹s degree in art history, art education or the
humanities. Familiarity with object research, making and editing video,
garage band, uploading media from a variety of sources, and working on a
Mac is preferred. Must be well organized, deadline driven, and able to work
independently with good attention to detail.****

The stipend amount is $5,000.  The Dayton Art Institute stipends are not
considered salary or compensation, but are awarded to help support a
fellow¹s study, research and travel efforts during the tenure of their
appointment. Fellows awarded stipends must complete a W-9 and will receive
a financial summary at the end of the calendar year. Fellows are
responsible for meeting their own state and federal tax obligations.****
