The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM), an internationally-acclaimed contemporary art museum in Center City Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Development & Grants Associate with excellent writing, organizational, and project management skills. Founded in 1977, The Fabric Workshop and Museum has developed from an ambitious experiment to a renowned institution with a widely recognized Artist-in-Residence Program, an extensive permanent collection of work created by artists at FWM, exhibitions, and comprehensive education programming including lectures, tours, and student apprenticeships. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Development & Grants Associate will be solely responsible for coordinating all aspects of fundraising, such as annual campaigns, with a strong emphasis on tracking and writing grant proposals and reports for a portfolio of foundation, government, and corporate constituents. Working with the Exhibition, Studio and Finance staff, the Development & Grants Associate will also be responsible for tracking grant project progress, reporting deadlines, and grant-funded artist residency project budgeting.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

·      Knowledge of, passion for, and background in contemporary art highly preferred

·      Two plus years of non-profit grant writing experience required

·      Budgeting experience essential

·      Strategic thinking skills with a keen attention to detail

·      Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines and manage complex proposals in a fast-paced environment

·      Ability to interact successfully and diplomatically with a wide range of constituents, including contemporary art professionals, artists, educators, studio staff, and museum administration

·      Maturity, integrity and respect for confidentiality

·      Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently as well as collaboratively with other staff members

·      Familiarity with donor software, such as Tessitura, Results Plus, Raiser’s Edge or comparable programs

·      Experience with managing corporate sponsorship relationships helpful

·      MA in Art History or Arts Administration preferred, or an appropriate comparable combination of education and professional experience
