The Technology Department at the Brooklyn Museum is looking for Digital Community Liaison to join our team. If you’ve got a passion for art history and a desire to join an active team which is continually changing the way our scholars interact with the public via digital channels, we’d love to hear from you.

The Digital Community Liaison guides, develops and manages communities of interest that attract and encourage conversation about the Brooklyn Museum’s collections and exhibitions. These communities bring together our visitors; scholars and other staffing; and partners in a multi-channel environment, both face-to-face and online, and encourage open feedback and participation across all these groups.

The Liaison reports to technology, but is considered an active partner with many groups throughout the building including Interpretive Materials, Adult Programs, Public Information, Curatorial, and Visitor Services.

Responsibilities include:

– Serve as the primary point of contact for multiple communities, both digital and in-gallery;
– Facilitation of a digital engagement program which will include spotlighting our collections and exhibitions while leveraging on-site event programming;
– Drive to completion, from investigation to delivery, initiatives that build community engagement and participation through social networking and other technologies;
– Lead the day-to-day operations of the hosted community in conjunction with internal community owners;
– Provide tracking and metrics to communicate and validate interaction;
– Work with internal and external  partners to develop and post interactive content that encourages participation;
– Other duties as assigned.
Here’s what we are looking for:
– Bachelors degree in Art History or similar
– 2+ years experience in digital community management
– Overwhelming passion for today’s social networking and collaboration technologies
– Experience building online interaction among members of a large-scale technical community around novel and complex technologies
– Specific experience identifying and utilizing appropriate content streams: transcripts, articles, surveys, web seminars, podcasts, wikis, blogs, etc.
– Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in teams
– Experience with multimedia production including filming, streaming, and editing.
– Proven history of developing new, sustainable processes
– A self-starter with the willingness, and desire, to “roll up your sleeves” and get the job done
– Preference for working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment
This is a full-time position located at the Museum’s offices in Brooklyn.  This is a fun, friendly, and fast-paced environment.  Schedule is mostly M-F 9-5, but also highly variable with events on nights and weekends.
