Position:   Collection Maintenance Technician

Reports to:   Textile Conservator

Type:   Part time non-exempt position

 

Job Summary:

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is seeking a part-time Collection Maintenance Technician for eight hours per week (Tuesdays).  The Technician will assist in the dusting, vacuuming, and monitoring of the Museum’s permanently exhibited textiles, sculpture and decorative arts.  The technician will be instructed by the conservation staff in methods for dusting and examining works of art.  This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with a strong interest in collection management or conservation.

 

The successful candidate will have completed or be working toward the completion of a BA degree, be attentive to detail, be able to demonstrate sensitivity to handling art / fragile objects, and be able to work on a ladder.
