The Museum of the City of New York seeks a Research Associate to assist in the research and planning for a major new exhibition on the history of New York City. The Research Associate will be part of a team of curators and postdoctoral fellows who will identify and investigate key figures in New York City history, research exhibition themes and stories, participate in writing text for exhibition and associated media installations and interactives, and help select objects and images for display.

Ph.D. in History, with a documented record of scholarship on and knowledge of New York City history. The Museum has a particular interest in scholars with specialties in eras before 1900 and/or in the history of racial minorities or immigration. Candidates should have a commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research and be skilled in archival research as well as in translating complex ideas for a non-specialist audience. Previous experience with public history projects preferred but not required.
