The South Carolina State Museum is seeking a creative and energetic individual for a full-time STEM Education Manager. The STEM Education Manager will work in collaboration with a new team to develop STEM programming for our new expansion, Windows to New Worlds! This expansion includes a 55′ dome planetarium, a 4D theater, a historic telescope gallery, and an on-site/on-line observatory! Working with other museum staff the STEM Education Manager will develop grant-funded professional development and student programming that maximizes the new educational components of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

•           Knowledge of STEM content areas and instructional strategies
•           Experience training K-12 teachers
•           Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
•           Excellent computer and technology skills

•           Bachelor’s in Education or experience in a STEM education field
•           5 years classroom or science education teaching experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

•           Master’s in Science Education and/or comparable experience in a STEM education field
•           Engineering and applied mathematics knowledge
•           Experience training volunteers and teachers
•           Experience in incorporating the arts into science education
•           Knowledge of and experience in social media and web-based education.
