ABOUT BETHEL WOODS:

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock
festival in Bethel, NY, seeks a Museum Education Manager.  Drawing
inspiration from our unique place in history, Bethel Woods is a cultural
center that uses the arts and humanities to educate, empower and contribute
to the vitality of communities. Located just 90 minutes from New York City
on 800 acres of manicured grounds, the center offers multiple stages
featuring a diverse selection of popular artists and culturally-rich
performances, an award-winning museum, and educational and community
programs that provide meaningful experience in arts, history and civic
engagement.

POSITION ROLE:

The Museum Education Manager is an integral position within the department
of Education & Community Outreach and is involved with a wide range of
educational programs for diverse audiences relating to the content of The
Museum of Bethel Woods, which tells the story of the 1960s and the
Woodstock festival. This position oversees the implementation and expansion
of museum-related programs, including school groups, adult audiences, and
youth/teen/family programs. A major focus will be on the development,
implementation, and evaluation of sustained visitor experiences, expanding
audience engagement beyond one-off, on-site events.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position works within a dynamic team of broad-reaching educational
programs to oversee the implementation of on-going educational programs at
The Museum at Bethel Woods for a wide range of audiences. Work includes
revising and continuing existing programs and creating new programs to help
better serve our audiences. Position includes creative development of
school and family-based programs, programs for teens/young adults, and
adult-based programs. Experience with school groups–either in the
classroom or informal learning environment–is essential. Experience with
developing creative, sustained audience engagement opportunities is highly
desirable. Knowledge of digital education tools and techniques a plus.

*Specific Duties:*

·         Creates, implements, monitors, and evaluates museum-based
educational programs for diverse audiences, including

o   K-12 field trips and other opportunities for school engagement

o   Speaker series

o   Film series

o   Docent tours & training

o   Family Day

·         Assists with the development of new programs and with additional
opportunities for audience engagement

·         Tracks numbers relating to all related programs

·         Provides logistical support to all of the above programs, and
assists as needed with other departmental projects

·         Supervises

o   School programs volunteers (training & scheduling)

o   Summer museum education intern
