*Astor Fellow for K-12 Education*
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is now accepting applications for the Astor Fellow position in the School and Teacher Programs Division. This three-year grant funded position (May 2014-June 2017) supports K-12 teachers in a professional
learning community. Over the grant period, three cohorts of 15 NYC public school teachers will meet at the Museum and online to generate lessons and share best practices in teaching. The participating teachers will bring their students to the Museum, and
their lessons and teaching strategies will be documented through video and shared with a broader audience online. The Astor Fellow will coordinate all aspects of this initiative, under the supervision of the Assistant Museum Educator for Teacher Programs,
in order to develop and disseminate best practices in teacher training and gallery-based teaching methods with K-12 students.

*Primary Responsibilities and Duties:*
Planning and implementing onsite workshops, meetings, and online conversations for a cohort of 15 K-12 teachers each year.
Managing communications with the cohort (and their schools), including meeting logistics, arranging for school visits for the participating teachers, and coordinating the necessary release forms and documentation.
Coordinating the development of curriculum materials (lesson plans, videos of teaching practice, etc.) in collaboration with participating teachers, contracted videographers, and colleagues at the Museum.
Support ongoing programming for K-12 Educators and students as a member of the School and Teacher Programs Division. Occasional teaching in School Programs and K-12 Educator Programs.
Presenting the outcomes of the grant initiative at a professional conference.
Other related duties.

*Requirements and Qualifications:*
_Experience and Skills_
A demonstrated commitment to K-12 student and/or teacher learning.
Strong communication (verbal and print) and project management skills.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Candidates who have: worked in (or with) New York City public schools, supported the development of digital projects, published curriculum materials, and/or have previous experience presenting at professional conferences are strongly
encouraged to apply.
Computer Skills: MS Office and Outlook (Experience with Google Hangouts and other Social Media recommended)
_Knowledge and Education_
B.A. required.
A Masters degree in Museum Education, Museum Studies, Studio Art, Art History, or other relevant discipline required.
2-3 years of experience teaching and/or administration in a museum setting.
