Historic Hudson Valley (www.hudsonvalley.org) seeks a full time *Education
Manager* to assist the Associate Director of Education with planning,
preparation, and implementation of all programs for school audiences at
three Westchester sites (Philipsburg Manor, Washington Irving’s Sunnyside,
and Van Cortlandt Manor).

*Principal Duties:*

·         Work as part of team to develop new school programs, web based
content, and education outreach.  Revise and enrich existing programs, and
plan staff training

·         Establish new lesson plans incorporating Common Core curriculum
standards

·         Supervise and train Education Associates, coordinate schedule
changes with Operations Manager

·         Communicate daily activities to Education Associates regarding
tour specifics and schedule changes

·         Stay up to date on NYS Education Department requirements,
education trends and best practices relating to curriculum development and
delivery to primary and secondary school students.

·         Assist the Associate Director of Education in evaluating
education programs offered by HHV: quality, budget, participation levels,
teacher interest, relevance

·         Develop and implement pre- and post-visit school program materials

·         Contact teachers to confirm reservations, inform them of program
policies, inquire about pre-visit preparation, and ascertain any special
needs

·         Serve as a liaison to schools, teachers and community

·         Help develop and distribute new teacher and visitor surveys

·         Serve as a costumed interpreter as needed and maintain awareness
of interpretive material for three Westchester sites

·         Assist with and participate in other programs, including popular
program and evening events as needed or assigned

·         Other duties as assigned

*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:*

·         Working knowledge of NYS education curriculum, American culture
and history;

·         Degree in museum studies or equivalent museum experience;

·         Knowledge of visual learning strategies and query-based
interpretation;

·         Strong organizational and communications skills;

·         Initiative, resourcefulness, and creativity;

·         Ability to work as a team member and under pressure;

·         Computer skills.

*Work Conditions:*

·         General office conditions; outside work on site

·         Some travel to schools, conferences, and HHV locations

·         Some weekend, evening, and holiday assignments

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and excellent
