Division Description: This position works in the Exhibitions and Digital Media section of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.  The primary purpose of the Exhibits and Digital Media section is to develop, design, produce, install and maintain all permanent, temporary and traveling exhibits of the Museum.  This section regularly supports museum education, special events, fund-raising, research and facility staff.
Description of Work:  This position will write and implement exhibit and media interpretive content for a state-of-the-art science museum. This position develops content for up-to-date exhibits and digital media technologies that span print graphics, publications, way-finding signage, high-definition video productions, multimedia and interactive environments, web-enabled publishing, social media, handheld digital devices, and TV broadcasts.
The position will act as a key member of exhibit content development teams, contributing interpretational content research and feedback from museum visitors in the exhibit design process. This position will write scientifically-accurate copy that is appropriate for museum audiences, as well as ensure proper grammar and copy editing protocols for the exhibit and digital media section. The position will organize and track many different project details; responsibilities include maintaining records, developing schedules, and designing and updating databases, spreadsheets, and style guides. A successful candidate will have knowledge of digital, print, and audio-visual design methods and techniques, the position will interface with practicing researchers, museum staff, museum partners, subcontractors, and the general public.
