About the Agency

This position is located in the Museum Assets and Operations Group, Collections Management Office of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), Smithsonian, Institution.  The employee is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the management, accountability, care, preservation, and use of the NMAI collection of Native ethnographic and archaeological artifacts and works of contemporary art.

Stores, makes storage supports for, moves, tracks, packs/unpacks, and cares for Native American museum objects.
Plans for, facilitates, accompanies, oversees, and documents visitor use of Native American object collections by varied audiences.
Serves as departmental project team member for museum-wide project teams and plans/implements within-department projects.
