Description:
Reporting to the Public Relations Director, the Public Relations Coordinator will participate in public relations daily activities, including media outreach and social media support for the Museum. S/he will assist in coordinating a number of different PR and social projects, as well as manage some of his/her own projects. Essential functions include: distributing daily news placements; organizing and maintaining central and clip filing system (digital and hard copy); compiling comprehensive clip books and monthly trustee reports/boards; compiling and distributing press materials to journalists; maintaining inventory of press materials, photography and media library; maintaining, updating and creating media lists; scanning newspapers and magazines daily for articles on MFA activities, general art information and accuracy of Museum listings; writing and overseeing the distribution of exhibition, education and Open House/community event calendar listings; assisting in the coordination of exhibition press previews, events and photo shoots; interacting and escorting journalists, television crews and photographers within the Museum; creating, executing, tracking and analysis of content and campaigns across all social media channels; assist in social content creation and coordinate editorial calendar; assisting in the invoice and billing system; updating and maintaining PR’s presence on mfa.org; managing interns; overseeing the production of collateral materials (invitations, press kits, etc.); writing select press materials; conducting outreach to local and regional media outlets on select MFA programs.

35 hours/week; Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm

Qualifications:
The candidate must be a self-starter, professional, extremely organized and detail-oriented. A positive attitude along with strong verbal and written communication skills and digital knowledge are essential. Previous public relations experience (e.g. internship) and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Vocus preferred.
