Position: Development Coordinator

Department: External Affairs

Reports to: Deputy Director for External Affairs/Interim Director of Development

Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt, Benefits Eligible

The Development Coordinator is an integral member of deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum’s fundraising efforts. Working closely with the Deputy Director for External Affairs and the Museum’s Development team, the Development Coordinator is responsible for providing support for all of deCordova’s fundraising efforts.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Manage, maintain, and update the Raiser’s Edge donor database;

 Process, track, and file all philanthropic gifts;

 Create timely and accurate tax-acknowledgement letters and reminders for all gifts and pledges;

 Generate financial reports for External Affairs and senior staff as well as for

reconciliation with Finance Department;

 Coordinate and support committee meetings, including Development Planning and

Advisory Committees, Overseer Council Committee, Benefit Committee, and other

committees as assigned. Support includes preparing meeting agendas, minutes,

packets, and correspondence. Generates and distributes minutes in a timely way;

 Provide excellent customer service to donors by phone, written correspondence, and in-person;

 Assist with prospect research as needed;

 Manage and execute VIP exhibition opening receptions and other donor

cultivation/stewardship events throughout the year in conjunction with the Head of

Special Events & Rentals;

 Work closely with the Development Program Manager to plan and execute the Annual

Benefit and Auction, including a leadership role in the live and silent auctions, as

applicable. Process and acknowledge tickets/tables and sponsorships. Help seek

sponsors/in-kind donors to the event. Provide general overall event support;

 Other projects and duties as assigned related to the operations of the development

department.

Skills Utilized:

 Use of Raiser’s Edge database including data entry, query building, and reports;

 Coordinating and providing support to special events functions;

 Attention to detail and appreciation of the importance of accurate, usable data;

 Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve;

 Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to anticipate next steps;

 Excellent written and verbal skills required including customer service skills;

 Ability to converse with a wide variety of constituents in a professional manner and work

collegially with all levels and departments within the organization.

 Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, and judgment;

 Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);

 Ability to work occasional night, evenings, and weekends as required.

This position is full-time, salaried, exempt and benefits eligible The salary for this position is
