The Akron Art Museum, Akron Ohio– position reopened

The Akron Art Museum seeks a highly motivated and creative individual with a sense of adventure who is attuned to developments in contemporary art. Candidates will be eager to attract and organize dynamic exhibitions, steward and develop the collection, and foster community engagement. The Associate Curator is a full time position under the supervision of the Chief Curator. This individual will be responsible for cultivating relationships with artists, academic communities and community organizations and will represent the museum in professional groups, the community and regionally.

Candidates are required to have a graduate degree, knowledge of modern and contemporary art and a minimum of three years experience organizing museum/gallery exhibitions. Excellent verbal and written skills, public speaking, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, and computer proficiency are essential. Experience commissioning artworks, negotiating contracts and overseeing installations is preferred. Experience developing publications and websites and integrating technology in exhibition interpretation is desirable.
