The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art seeks a Curator of Collections & Exhibitions to administer the Museum’s collections and exhibitions program. The Museum, located in Laurel, Mississippi, opened in 1923 and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Recognized as one of the finest museums of its size in the South, The Museum is comprised of 32,000 square feet, and collections include American and European art, Native American baskets, British Georgian silver, Japanese woodblock prints, and a 12,000-volume art research library.

Responsibilities include coordinating the care, installation and interpretation of the collections; developing the acquisition plan of the collections; scheduling and coordinating temporary and traveling exhibitions; identifying conservation needs of the collections; editing and writing gallery guides, labels, text panels, and catalogues; training docents; and assisting with the Museum’s education curriculum.
Job Requirements

Requirements include an advanced degree in Art History and excellent communication, writing and computer skills. Three years museum experience with knowledge of professional museum standards and practices is desired.
