Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Museum Operations, this position serves as the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum‘s Curator. This position is responsible for managing, preserving and maintaining the past, present and future physical and intellectual history of this institution, based on traditional and accepted archival best-practice standards. The Curator reinforces the World Golf Hall of Fame’s position as a trusted resource responsible for preserving golf’s history and honoring golf’s greatest players and contributors. This position will be primarily focused on the collection, organization, preservation, and exhibition of the history of golf.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Administer the Museum’s collections database, developing and maintaining data standards and ensuring correct maintenance of the collections document files, object records, usage records including the Museum’s rights and reproduction services including photographs use requests.
Responsible for organizing and maintaining the records and database of objects in the collection, including the initiation of loan and donation documents. Register and assign catalog numbers to all items in the collection; tag, compose concise descriptions, record digital images and update all appropriate database records.
Responsible for the care and interpretation of objects, materials, artifacts and memorabilia belonging to or lent to the museum.
Assist in carrying out research on the collection, including verifying authenticity, tracing provenance, evaluating significance and judging quality.
Collaborate with museum staff on the conception, development and organization of exhibitions, including articulating the rationale for and narrative of the exhibition.
Collaborate with the museum staff on methods for the presentation of the collection, including the Hall of Fame Guest Experience.
Manage incoming and outgoing donations and loans.
Maintain an annual schedule of all items due for extension, return or donation and identify those in need of special conditions or changes to existing agreements.
Periodically review and evaluate record keeping procedures to establish the most current, effective artifact and memorabilia maintenance processes.
Assist with researching and creating text panels used to describe individual artifacts and overall exhibit themes and storylines. Assist with providing stories and articles focusing on the collection for the Hall of Fame website, The Tower and any other relevant collateral produced by the Hall of Fame.
Work with management staff to properly assess and insure all artifacts.
Perform special projects and all related work as directed by the Hall of Fame.
Job Requirements

This position requires a four year degree in history, museum studies, public history or related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related position.
Must have the ability to provide leadership in all aspects of the museum’s curatorial activities, including strong writing, researching, and public speaking skills.
This position requires professional experience in content development, digital media and asset development, collections management tools and software, leading tours and giving lectures.
