The Fellow will assist the Program Manager and Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the Discovery Center and early childhood drop-in programs throughout exhibit halls – facilitating activities and ensuring programming spaces are consistently ready for visitors. The Fellow will assist the Program Manager in ensuring that Living Laboratory is well integrated with the overall exhibit experience and accessible to all visitors – maintaining researcher schedules and databases, assisting in the development of educational materials (including “research toy” activities and handouts for LL participants), and ensuring day-to-day upkeep of the Living Laboratory space in the Discovery Center. The Fellow will assist the Coordinator in ensuring on-going professional development for part-time staff, volunteers and Living Laboratory collaborators – developing and delivering briefings, and assisting in the training of research assistants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate activities, interpretations and presentations for early childhood audiences (3-5 hours working directly with the public daily).
Develop 2-3 briefings/semester.
Deliver 5-6 briefing sessions/week.
Develop ~6 new activities/interpretations/presentations annually.
Deliver at least 1 Living Laboratory “greeting” or research toy interpretation per week.
Position requires a work schedule that includes Saturday or Sunday, shifts from days (9am-5pm) to evenings (11am – 7pm) during MA school vacations/summer season, and requires work on holidays.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is full-time, 35 hours/week, including one weekend day through August 2015.

REPORTS TO:
Program Manager, Discovery Center

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science or Arts degree preferred.
More than 6 months of science education experience.

STARTING SALARY:
Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
