Job Description
The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Education and Interpretation department seeks qualified candidates for its part-time Interpretation Assistant position. The Interpretation Assistant assists with departmental programming as well as the production of interpretive materials for exhibitions, the permanent collection, and the museum’s app, ArtLens. Typical duties include conducting object and background research for new digital content development; assisting with organizing physical and digital files; assisting with ongoing visitor research projects, including collecting data through short surveys with visitors; performing administrative tasks for visiting speakers; and providing support for occasional weekend and evening program set-up and event management.

Job Requirements
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in humanities, art history and one to two years of related work experience in a museum or cultural organization; a Masters degree is preferred. Excellent communication—written and verbal—and customer service skills are also required. Candidates will be friendly and confident when speaking with the public and will have strong research and organizational skills, be detail oriented with an ability to work independently, and have a demonstrated interest in museum education and interpretation.
