Description:
Visitor Services: Participates in the day-to-day operations of visitor services at The Mary Baker Eddy Library, including serving on the floor as part of the regular rotation and giving tours. Helps maintain clean and organized public spaces and alerts Operations Manager to equipment malfunctions. Reports care and maintenance needs for the Library’s public areas to the Operations Manager, including cleaning, repair, and upkeep.

Group Tours: Coordinates, schedules, and confirms, as well as prepares for, hosts, and follows up on, group visits. Responsible for scheduling tour guides as needed, and ensuring each group is guided in all requested areas.

This position will primarily be responsible for:
Assisting Visitor Services staff with opening and closing procedures
This should include going to the bank for change on Tuesday, and checking the exhibits in the morning on Tuesday-Thursday
Covering lunches at reception, shop, and Mapparium tours for VSAs
Booking group tours in the Outbound module.
This includes responding to email and phone inquiries
Scheduling group tours, and assigning tour guides as appropriate
This includes having a working knowledge of staffing and events and where group tours fit in appropriately with other Library functions

Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 9am-4:30pm. Should be available for extra hours on Friday-Sunday on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:
Customer service, retail, or similar experience dealing in person with the public, preferably tourists. Ability to handle monetary transactions with ease and accuracy, including counting cash. Should have basic math skills, computer knowledge, and the ability to learn quickly, preferably with a backgroud or strong interest in history and public education. Flexible, with strong attention to details and math. Takes initiative and works well with the public. Good oral and face-to-face communication skills. Committed to a world-class level of customer service and to providing the best possible visitor experience.
