PUBLIC PROGRAM COORDINATOR (Full-Time Exempt)

Salary Range: $41,371.20 – $65,499.20

The Public Program Coordinator position engages and educates the public on the FHDC’s mission to Inspire people to celebrate, explore, and care for the Flint Hills through the development, delivery and assessment of varied public programs to a diverse range of audiences that showcase the last stand of the tall grass prairie in the Flint Hills of Kansas and the Osage Hills of Oklahoma.

The Public Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful development/planning, implementation and evaluation of all Flint Hills Discovery Center’s educational, interpretive and public programming offerings in an indoor and outdoor programmatic setting. Programs can be conducted for groups or individuals such as preschool to university students, academics, tourists, scout groups, 4-H clubs, civic and senior groups.

The Coordinator will supervise, train and schedule two full time Education Specialists. The Public Program Coordinator is an integral member of FHDC’s leadership team reporting to the Director.

Job Requirements

A Master’s Degree is preferred with a Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in Interpretation, History, Natural Resource Communications/Management, Environmental Resource Communications, Historic Preservation or a related field. A minimum of five years of previous cultural resources or other interpretation and public program experience is required and demonstrated success in an education/interpretation environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
