Pucker Gallery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Art Handler/Packer/Shipper to help with the packing, shipping, installation and maintenance needs of an extremely active art gallery, specifically focused on the Gallery’s forthcoming move to a new location prior to the end of 2014. We are looking for a bright, hard-working and flexible candidate who learns quickly and is comfortable working individually as well as part of a small team. It will be an intense and high-pressure experience and candidates who are good humored and possess a positive attitude are extremely desired!  Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

ART HANDLING:

  • Handling of both 2-D and 3-D artwork to include wrapping works for storage and shipment.
  • Ability to wrap, store, secure and safely transport artwork in either the Gallery van or our large panel truck.
  • Maintenance and organization of stored artwork.
  • Pick up and delivery of artwork to/from various locations including client’s homes, restoration specialists, air freight terminals, artists’ studios, etc.
  • Preparation, wrapping, packing and transport of traveling exhibitions for nearby museums, on-campus school galleries and other local venues.
  • Fitting and un-fitting framed works for shipment and/or display.

 

MOVING:

  • Construction of specialized boxes for packing and transport of 3-D artwork
  • Construction of cardboard/foam slipcases for transport of 2-D artwork
  • Transport of objects between locations using the Gallery’s vehicle and/or a small panel truck
  • Assisting in unpacking objects at new location for storage and/or eventual display
  • Assisting in the organization of storage spaces at various locations including the Gallery’s new space and our storage facility in Somerville, MA

MAINTENANCE:

  • Preparation of Gallery exterior: sweeping, snow removal, window cleaning, maintenance and cleaning of exterior fountain, etc.
  • Janitorial duties at Gallery and secondary business location including cleaning of public spaces, bathrooms, building exteriors, and roofs.
  • Maintenance of all gallery spaces, including related interior and exterior spaces at 171 Newbury Street.

OTHER:

  • Various errands, driving needs and other related tasks outside of the Gallery.
  • Preparation for and breakdown of events at the Gallery owner’s home.

This is a salaried position with a schedule of 40-50/hours per week and is available immediately.  Evening and weekend work will be required.  A valid driver’s license is required.
