The Metropolitan Museum of Art*, one of the world’s finest museums, is
seeking an Assistant Museum Educator for the high school internship program
in the Education Department. The Assistant Museum Educator reports to the
Managing Museum Educator, School & Teacher Programs. The successful
candidate will oversee the high school internship program and be responsible
for establishing and meeting strategic goals, developing strategic
partnerships with community and city agencies, developing program
curriculum, meeting growth targets, establishing mentors/partners throughout
the Museum, measuring and analyzing program outcomes, managing
administrative aspects of the program and partnering with the Museum’s
External Affairs Department on marketing and outreach efforts. Incumbent
will implement curriculum for the program, teaching a range of professional
development workshops and gallery/collection experiences. Incumbent will
also teach across programmatic areas in the Education department, as
required, and serve as Education representative to selected special
exhibitions.*Primary Responsibilities and Duties:* Recruit potential
applicants through strategic partnerships with New York City Department of
Education, New York City Housing Authority or other city/community agencies;
Conduct research on the program’s effectiveness using outcome-based
assessment/evaluation tools; Maintain and track internship program budget
and process internship stipends; Collect data, prepare and author
development reports to funders; Develop and implement special exhibition
programming as needed; Prepare program proposals for selected special
exhibitions as Education representative; Teach gallery programs across
collection areas for all audiences as needed; Other related
duties.***Requirements/

Qualifications:**Knowledge and Education:* M.A. Art
History, Art Education, or Fine Arts required; 2-5 years of museum education
experience.*Experience and Skills:* Experience with high school age
audiences; Experience teaching from original works of art in a museum
setting; Strong knowledge of art and/or art history; Strong knowledge of
pedagogy in museum context; Familiarity with evaluation tools &
methodologies; Strong project management skills; Strong collaborative skills
and ability to work as member of a team; Strong communication
