Under the direction of the Head of Gallery Learning, this position develops, coordinates and facilitates gallery learning experiences for families with young children. In this role he/she designs and implements family learning activities for specific museum wide events such as School Vacation Weeks and MFA Playdates as well as family events coordinated by other departments, including Membership and Volunteer and Community Programs. This position also oversees ongoing drop-in gallery activities for families such as the Family Art Cart. Train and supervise adjunct staff, volunteers, work-study students and interns as teachers and program facilitators. Schedule staff for events and programs. Work with the Head of Gallery Learning in writing and developing interactive materials and self-guided gallery activities for families. Work with departments across the museum, including PR, Marketing, and Creative Services in the development of family programs. With the Head of Gallery Learning, assist in continuing to shape family experiences at the MFA for this dynamic and expanding visitor demographic to the museum.

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred. 2-3 years experience in a museum setting desirable.
Background in studio art or art education preferred. Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills; Creative thinker and problem solver with strong people skills; Attention to detail and strong organization skills a must.
