DIGITAL MEDIA DEVELOPER, PENN MUSEUM

The Digital Media Developer (DMD) will assist the Digital Media Center
at the Penn Museum in maintaining the Museum’s website, blog,
various WordPress sites, and social media channels. The DMD will create
graphics and help compose copy for the website as needed. The DMD will
also act as co-curator for the Museum’s blog and social media channels,
scouring the web and other media for content opportunities to compose
relevant and topical posts. The DMD will also help content contributors
across the Museum manage their posts. The DMD will document (with
photography, video, blog posts and other media) the activities around
the Museum’s event and exhibition programming to compose content for our
social media channels.

The DMD will be responsible for updating dynamic content on penn.museum
and aiding in the design and development of various new functionalities
for the website; e.g. interactive games, modules and widgets, etc.
The DMD will have experience developing within a content management
system, preferably a Joomla and WordPress environment. The DMD will also
help oversee the production of educational and promotional video as
developed by DMD staff. The DMD will have some graphic design experience
and help produce, edit and post photography of events and programs as
well as develop graphics for the web and other channels. The DMD will
possess excellent writing and communication skills. The DMD will also
have some demonstrated experience working with newsletter mailing lists
and provide assistance with the design and dissemination of our various
lists as needed.

Desired skills include advanced knowledge of web design and development
preferably in a Joomla and WordPress environments, basic knowledge of
Adobe Creative Suite, demonstrated experience working with digital media
and familiarity with social media strategies. At least one year
experience in video production is desired: basic knowledge of Final Cut
Pro. At least three years experience in web development is preferred.
Interest in archaeology, anthropology, museum studies, art/art history
strongly preferred. Standards compliant HTML required. CSS and PHP
preferred.

Applicant must be able to commit to 20 hours per week.
