Museums in the News

Here’s our weekly round-up of our favorite things that were said about museums this week: the good, the bad, and the really quite strange! But first, here are the museum related Hurricane Sandy stories. Free Environmental/Art Program on Wednesday 11/7!

Join the Tufts Art Gallery this Wednesday, November 7, from 6-8 p.m. for performances, refreshments and new insights on the environment. (Not to mention, another opportunity to visit Lucy and Jorge Orta’s stunning installation of urban gleaning machines and Antarctic settlement objects. Also, Museum Studies student Sarah Cohen gets her own special shout-out as she will be part of the performances! See below:

 

Sarah Cohen, a Museum Studies Certificate student, will be participating in the Tufts Art Gallery event: “Droplets: Short Talks and Performances about H2O”. This is an event sponsored by the Tufts University Art Gallery and the Tufts Institute of the Environment in conjunction with the FoodWaterLife/Lucy+JorgeOrta exhibition at the gallery. The event takes place on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. The presentations will be from 6- 7 pm. There will be a reception following at 7 pm, with free music and food. Sarah will be giving a short presentation on her “Ice Books”, a series of books made from ice, a metaphor for diminishing resources caused by human activity and technology. There will be an ice sculpture on view, made by Sarah, melting throughout the event. All are encouraged to attend! Location: Tufts Art Gallery.
