The Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) is an iconic institution that has provided interactive learning for families and children for more than 100 years. One of the Museum’s strategic goals over the next several years is to increase public and private support. The organization’s operating budget for FY15 is $5.1 million. The Grants Manager will be responsible for maintaining BCM’s portfolio of foundation and corporate funders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Full-time position reporting to the Vice President, External Affairs. Primary areas of responsibility include:
• Maintain portfolio of private foundation support and corporate giving, including corporate membership
• Write grant proposals for foundation support
• Identify, solicit, and steward funding opportunities from corporations, including event and program sponsorships and corporate memberships
• Work with senior team to identify new institutional prospects and help develop strategy for renewed and new institutional support
• Manage calendar of proposal and reporting deadlines

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
• 3-5 years in grant writing
• Proven success at securing foundation and/or corporate funds
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative and think creatively.
• Committed to working in a museum setting with a programmatic focus on youth, families, and community outreach.
