Job Summary The Education Program Manager will look for innovative ways to accomplish marketing, sales, and organizational goals through the development of forward facing hands on dynamic experiences that will engage school groups, civic groups, adult/senior groups, and other audiences.

Essential Job Duties

• Develops, leads and conducts educational experiences based on the history, science, and technology of NASCAR including, but not limited to, hands on activities, tours, lectures, question and answer events, multimedia screenings, luncheons, symposiums, educational carts, curriculum based field trips, pre and post visit activities.

• Writes pre, during, and post visit lesson plans based on national and state education standards including STEM.

• Will assist Director of Exhibits with developing the operational budget for educational programming.

• Works in coordination with marketing, operations, and sales team members to develop appropriate educational experiences to meet sales and admissions goals. • Works with operations staff to train floor staff to carry out programming.

• Works with the group sales senior manager to develop specific programs that meet marketplace needs and interests.

• Actively participates in the development of exhibits to review content and to determine additional educational opportunities.

• Travels to schools as well as national travel to museum education symposiums may be required.

• This position requires work hours outside of normal business hours; must be able to work evenings weekends and holidays as necessary.

• May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

• This job has some budgetary responsibilities.

• This job will have periodic access to confidential data including company plans, designs, and programs.

Supervisory Responsibility

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor degree in museum education, museum studies, or education. Master’s degree in Museum Education desired.  At least five years of experience creating and conducting engaging educational experiences in a science and technology museum environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A working knowledge of national, state and regional educational standards also developmentally appropriate educational practices.

• A proven track record of developing hands on activities that meet learning objectives and acknowledge various learning styles for school – age and adult audiences.

• Outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills.

• Experience with working in a collaborative manner in a complex organization.

• Computer literacy required including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

• An intimate and thorough knowledge of science and technology as it relates to automotive or motorsports is preferred.

Physical Demands

• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.

Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Required

• Local travel to schools as well as national travel to museum education symposiums may be required.
