Title: Curatorial Research Fellow

Type of Position: Full-time, special project position for one year

Position Summary:
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston seeks applicants specializing in Renaissance art and/or art around 1900, for a post-doctoral fellowship beginning in March 2015. Available to outstanding scholars considering a curatorial career in art museums, this 12-month fellowship will provide curatorial experience while also supporting scholarly research, publication, and digital initiatives underway at the museum. The position has a competitive salary with employee benefits.

The Fellow will work closely with and report to the Curator of the Collection, and will also collaborate closely with other museum departments such as conservation, education, archives, registrar, and contemporary art. With access to the collection and research facilities at the museum, the Fellow will partake of all the professional privileges extended to museum staff.

Specific research projects will include assisting with: 1) the development of a new Guidebook to the Collection; 2) new digital initiatives and interpretive tools being launched as part of the museum’s new strategic plan; and 3) other projects that complement the Fellow’s research interests and the priorities of the museum, including those that contribute to the museum’s scholarly publications or exhibitions drawn from the permanent collection.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have completed a PhD within the last five years or have a proven record of equivalent accomplishment.
