The National Aquarium is currently looking for a Corporate Membership and Sponsorship Director. The position is responsible for the strategic management of fundraising from corporate audience for the corporate membership and corporate sponsorship programs, and will support corporate fundraising for special initiatives. As a senior member of the Development team, the Corporate Membership and Sponsorship Director contributes to the departmental goals by developing and implementing strategies and tactics that serve the Aquarium’s mission and that are guided by its strategic objectives and values.

Essential Functions:

  • Serving as a senior member of the Membership/Development team, develop and execute comprehensive strategy for corporate membership and sponsorship to meet and exceed established financial goals, increase participation in all programs, and plan for long-term program growth.  Working with the CPO, develop and manage expense budgets and revenue goals.
  • As appropriate for giving level, ensure that each corporate supporter is provided the opportunity to engage with the Aquarium in a manner that is meets their philanthropic objectives.
  • Serve as Relationship Manager for approximately 25 leading corporate members and sponsors.
  • Lead effort to consistently identify programs and properties that could attract corporate support and/or sponsorship; ensure consistent valuation and benefits structure.
  • Direct Corporate Membership Program.
  • Create and/or review proposals, correspondence, presentations and other materials for corporate sponsorship and corporate members programs.
  • Support the efforts of the CPO in staffing the Philanthropy Committee and serve as the lead representative of corporate sponsorship and corporate membership programs to the Committee.
  • Thoroughly understand the National Aquarium, its mission and policies, culture, values, history, key stakeholders, programs and finances.
  • Fully engage in Membership/Development department activities, contributing to both overall team and organization-wide goals.
  • Contribute to long-range planning for the growth and increased overall impact and prominence of the Aquarium’s membership and development programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with advanced degree a plus, along with demonstrated effort of continuing education in fundraising management.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience in Development, including management of corporate donor relationships.
  • Demonstrated problem solving analysis and resolution at strategic and functional levels as well as ability to exercise sound judgment, flexibility, initiative and commitment in an environment of rapid change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
