The Jefferson County Museum, a small non-profit history museum in Charles Town, W.Va., is seeking a part-time curator and public engagement specialist.

Since its founding 50 years ago, the museum has developed, maintained, and exhibited an extraordinary collection of artifacts and documents reflecting the county’s rich history. As it begins its second half-century, the museum has set an exciting and ambitious goal of becoming a popular, go-to history destination for a diverse population of county residents and tourists. To achieve this goal, the museum is searching for a part-time curator and public engagement specialist with the experience, skills, energy, and creativity to plan and carry out education, exhibition, outreach, marketing, and fundraising activities.

Working with two other part-time museum employees, the director and historian, the curator/public engagement specialist will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the museum; staff the reception desk; work with volunteers and interns; and perform other duties, as assigned.
