The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is a seeking a collaborative, creative and organized person to join the MPM team as an Educator. The Educator will spearhead innovative programs that leverage the MPM’s expertise in natural sciences to create a local lens through which our community will understand issues of local, national and global significance. In the process he/she will employ strategies to effectively communicate the science of topics such as sustainability, biodiversity, food supply, and changing climate. The Educator works in conjunction with Curatorial, Exhibits, Education and other staff from conceptualization through the evaluation of programs.

Established in 1882 MPM is one of the oldest natural history museums in the United States.  With three floors of exhibits covering 150,000 sq ft, MPM presents exhibits that explore the relationship between human history and natural sciences in settings as varied as a Costa Rican rainforest, a Wisconsin glacier, the Arctic, and an African watering hole. MPM models sustainable features highlighted within the Puelicher Butterfly Wing, a green roof, and an eight story high solar panel array – the largest wall mounted array in the U.S.

MPM is Wisconsin’s largest and most-attended museum, and it is among the largest and most-utilized natural history museums in the nation. MPM’s exhibits and programs engage a diverse range of visitors, including over 100,000 schoolchildren each year. MPM’s ten-year average attendance of 600,000 visitors per year makes it the sixth most visited museum of natural history, per capita, in the Unites States.
