The Curatorial Assistant provides essential administrative and programmatic support to ensure both a productive department and an efficient role out of the ICA’s ambitious calendar of exhibitions. Duties include maintaining calendars and scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, ordering supplies, maintaining department files and images and responding to traveling exhibition proposals as needed. Maintaining receipts and reconciling department expenses. Provides support to curators by conducting exhibition research, corresponding with artists and galleries, and maintaining exhibition checklists. Assists curators with catalogue and brochure production.
Qualifications:
BA degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or equivalent experience required. MA or graduate work in Art History or Curatorial Studies preferred. A minimum of 2 years professional work in museum, gallery or equivalent setting. Experience working with contemporary artists preferred. A working knowledge of art history and an interest in contemporary art. Candidates must be highly detail-oriented and accurate, have demonstrated superior writing skills, possess strong verbal communication skills, and be skilled in computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to operate office equipment and general mobility throughout the building required. Full-time schedule is Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm and events as required.
