RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organize, describe, preserve and store the collection (the collection includes archives, manuscripts, prints, photographs, and three-dimensional objects).
Provide initial condition assessment of all objects and scan/digitize and catalog them into database.
Perform indexing and cataloging and help identify items in the collection that need preservation.
Maintain paper/electronic records (receive, return, transport collection materials).
Perform research and internet searches pertaining to objects in collection.
Provide educational tours of The Jim Moran Foundation to visitors.
Assist in the creation, preparation and maintenance of exhibits and displays, including cleaning and caring for physical items.
Individual will assist in the coordination and administration of the archival collections and associated software system.
Assist in maintaining applications, databases and documentation used to manage the collection and program(s) in line with The Jim Moran Foundation operating and communication strategy.
Assist in coordinating the accession and de-accession of records.
May provide administrative support to The Jim Moran Foundation Board of Directors and assist with special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent computer skills including experience using database management systems–specifically archival collections management software with the ability to learn new software programs. Ke Emu (museum/archival database) experience a plus.
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat & Photoshop; Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word); experience with CD/DVD burning software.
Experience and working knowledge of digital photography, scanning capabilities, image editing software, cataloging, subject indexing, and basic archival description.
Experience and demonstrated success in current archival/museum collections management methods including cataloging, digitization, audio and electronic records, artifact handling and appropriate storage techniques, as well as in the professional, legal and ethical responsibilities of the profession.
Must have exceptional organizational, follow-through, prioritizing and project management skills.
Must be extremely detail-oriented; demonstrate initiative, innovation, enthusiasm and accountability.
Must have above-average research skills, analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.
Must be innovative and flexible in adapting to multiple, changing priorities.
Must possess exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills, professional demeanor, as well as interpersonal skills with adeptness in dealing with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Must have strong public speaking / presentation skills and demonstrated ability to lead tours
Ability to work independently on multiple projects, yet able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
Must have sound decision making, common sense and good judgment.
Must maintain a very strict level of confidentiality.
Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds required.
Library Science/Museum Studies/History degree and/or a minimum of 3 years equivalent professional experience arranging, describing and cataloging archival collections with knowledge of archival standards preferred.
