Education Coordinator:

The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region. THNOC is a collection of over 35,000 library items, more than two miles of documents and manuscripts, and over 350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings, and other artifacts. The Collection is currently accepting resumes for the position of Education Coordinator.

The education coordinator is responsible for providing educational programs to educators and students. This position develops curriculum and other educational materials, presents to adult and student audiences, schedules and manages educational programs, trainings, and tours, manages logistical aspects of educational programs and projects, and acts as liaison with colleagues and external customers to advance THNOC’s educational outreach.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in history, American studies, education or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience teaching in a school and creating curriculum that meets Common Core and state regulations. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a comprehensive ability to conduct archival and primary source research. The ideal candidate should have a sustained interest in Louisiana’s history and culture, attention to detail, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, proficient computer skills, customer service skills and an ability to work under minimal supervision. This position requires a valid driver’s license. A legal teaching certificate and a proficiency in French or Spanish are preferred.
