The Orange County Museum of Art is currently accepting nominations and applications for the position of director of public engagement. Providing senior level management and direction for the museum’s full scope of educational and public programming initiatives, the director of public engagement will join a staff that is dedicated to expanding the reach of the museum.

Reporting directly to the chief executive, the director will oversee the museum’s student tour program and its adult public programming offerings. Additionally, the director will be charged with developing and implementing new programs dedicated to attracting teens from across the county.

The museum is about to embark upon an ambitious building campaign that will result in a new home for the museum at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, a cultural campus in Costa Mesa, CA. This move will open up opportunities for collaborations across the visual and performing arts and position the museum geographically in a more central location to better serve the population of Orange County. The next chapter in the museum’s rich history will include the transition from its current location to a temporary location and an eventual relocation into its new home. During this period, the museum will look toward its public engagement initiatives to maintain the connections between the public and the museum.

Review of applications will begin immediately.  Please send your nominations or your applications to humanresources@ocma.net. An application should consist of a letter of interest, a resume and a list of three references (with addresses).  All nominations and applications will be kept confidential.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of senior art museum education experience, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and be able to incorporate the museum’s modern and contemporary collecting and exhibiting interests into relevant and meaningful public engagement.
