Reporting to the Director of Collections and Chief Curator, the Head of Archives and Special Collections is responsible for creating, implementing, and guiding the department’s institutional strategic initiatives;  performing collection development and selecting special collections materials; managing budgets, database and content management systems, and digitization programs; preservation of analog and digital assets; and operations for the Museum’s Archives, Art Research Library, Digital Assets, Image Rights, and Special Collections.

Job Requirements

To be considered, candidates should have an MLS from an ALA-accredited library school or the equivalent combination of education.   Knowledge of 18th and 19th century French and Russian arts, with an emphasis on decorative arts along with a working knowledge of Russian and/or French languages is preferred. Those with demonstrated management experience in an art or museum library will receive priority consideration.
