The Bookstore Coordinator administers the VHS Museum Store at the Vermont History Museum and the online Vermont Historical Society Store, assists in the operation of the Book Nook at the Vermont History Center and coordinates offsite bookstore activities, including the Vermont History Expo. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week permanent position.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Perform activities associated with on-site and off-site retail activities including ordering books and related merchandise, managing inventory, fulfilling online and mail orders, generating daily sales reports, making regular bank deposits, and creating periodic reports on sales and inventory as requested.

 In coordination with the Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator, develop effective merchandising schemes at both retail venues, with adequate signage and the price of each item indicated.

 Maintain a current online catalog of merchandise, and, in coordination with the Librarian and other staff produce an annual publication of new items.

 Assist, as needed, with the daily operations of the Vermont History Museum, including staffing the admissions desk, opening/closing the facility, and the maintenance of exhibitions.

Relationships:

The Bookstore Coordinator reports to the Director of Finance and Operations and works collaboratively with other VHS staff, and volunteers.

Environmental Factors:

 Duties are performed in a standard office setting, principally based in Montpelier, Vermont.

 Moderate travel may occur, for which a valid driver’s license is required and private means of transportation must be available.

 Weekend and occasional evening work may be required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

 High school diploma, with some college preferred.

 Experience in a library or retail environment.

 Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

 The ability to manage online resources and accurately enter data.

 The ability to professionally represent the Society’s mission, goals and programs.
